What Are You Thankful For?

What are you thankful for?

Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year. Since the time I can remember, this was when I felt more connected to family as a whole, even when it was a disaster. Everyone was in and out of the kitchen helping to prepare the meal when suddenly, the water dispenser on the refrigerator started pouring out water. We were all slipping and sliding trying to stop the leak. What a mess! But, with all of us there helping to fix it, our teamwork turned a calamity into a wonderful memory that we still talk and laugh about today.

There are so many things you can be grateful for: the camaraderie you share with family and friends, the banter between siblings or cousins, the quiet of the night as you slip into sleep, or the love you hold for that special one next to you or watching over you. You might even be grateful for getting a much-needed rain or just knowing that today, you are safe and have a roof over your head.

  • Do you ever have thoughts preventing you from seeing these simple things?
  • Have you already over-committed yourself to the point of stressing out instead of being grateful?
  • Perhaps you’re anxious or possibly dread sharing a meal with people who make you cringe?

Sometimes, we can’t see the forest for the trees.

We don’t all have a Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving. That’s okay. Be around people who bring joy to your life.  This is a time to give thanks and be grateful, not for guilt, stress, and anxiety.  Let’s not wait for disaster to strick to remember that loved ones and life IS precious.

True, not everyone has a Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving. That’s okay. You can choose to be around people who bring more joy to your life. This is a time to give thanks and be grateful, not for guilt, stress, and anxiety. Let’s not wait for disaster to strike before you call upon a loved one. Life IS precious.

However, if you still feel a sense of overwhelming coming upon you, just:
STOP for a quick moment.  Breath in – Breath out.  Count all five fingers on one hand, and remember… YOU CAN HANDLE this! I am here for you!

Try this a few times and if this did not work, call me. Let’s discuss a few sessions of Hypnotherapy.

Gratefully,
Liza
