Complementary Medical Hypnosis is used by hypnotists to help doctor’s clients
achieve certain goals with the use of hypnosis. Working with a hypnotist does not replace the care of a medical
provider, instead it complements their work.

Medical Causes and
Solutions. Hypnotherapy is used as an
effective tool in many medical and clinical settings. It has become an augmentation to dentistry, and more
physicians, psychologists and advanced-practice nurses use it mainly as an adjunct therapy to alleviate a wide
range of ailments to help patients control pain, relax and reduce anxiety in a short period.
Although hypnosis has been shown to reduce pain
perception, it is not clear how the technique works, yet, the acceptance and use of this safe pain-reduction
option in clinical settings is becoming more main stream.
Hypnotherapy offers another tool to western medical
doctors and pediatricians that can add to their arsenal to treat conditions ranging from nail biting to severe
asthma attacks and prepping for surgery.
Hypnosis Reduces Pain and Speeds up Recovery
from Surgery.
Hypnosis used in patients as an adjunct to conscious
sedation and local anesthesia has been associated with improved intraoperative patient comfort, and with reduced
anxiety, pain, and its application in surgery. Using hypnosis and hypnotic
suggestions during emergency, application to burns, pain, pediatric procedures and surgery help calm and ease
situations immediately.
The American Medical
Journal reported: “Women undergoing surgery for breast cancer who received a brief hypnosis
session before entering the operating room required less anesthesia and pain medication during surgery, and
reported less pain, nausea, fatigue, and discomfort after surgery than women who did not receive
hypnosis”.
